6 Days Kunming, Jianshui, Yuanyang Rice Terraces

Day 1: Kunming Arrival

When you arrive at the airport or train station of Kunming, you will be picked up for your transfer to the hotel in the city centre. On this first day we will not have a busy itinerary. You are free to get used to the city, take a rest, or spend some time on your own. Either stroll along the beautiful Green Lake, or pay a visit to flower & birds market and get to know the life of the locals.

6 Days Kunming, Jianshui, Yuanyang Rice Terraces

Day 2: Kunming- Stone Forest- Jianshui 288km/4hrs

On this second day, we will drive 68km to visit the Stone Forest, this geopark is famous for having the most different kinds of karst forms in the world! After that, we will drive for about 3 hours to Jianshui. When we arrive we will visit Jianshui Old Town, and Zhu Family’s Garden. These are typically  the most popular sports to see in Jianshui. Many people are always amazed by the architectural style of the houses and buildings of this town.

6 Days Kunming, Jianshui, Yuanyang Rice Terraces

Day 3: Jianshui- Yuanyang 185km/3.5hrs

On day 3, we will start the day by attending a local tofu workshop during the morning. Afterwards, we will visit the Purple Pottery street, to learn and make traditional pottery yourself. On the way, we will pay a visit to the Shuanglong Bridge. After the pottery workshop, we continue to Tuanshan Village. All the temples here are well preserved, and you can clearly see the special workmanship of wood, stone and brick carvings. In the afternoon we will drive to Yuanyang, an amazing place famous for its spectacular rice terraces. We start exploring those tomorrow!

6 Days Kunming, Jianshui, Yuanyang Rice Terraces

Day 4: Yuanyang

Today is an early bird day! We will try to get you up and running at 6am to watch the sunrise at Duoyishu Terrace. The fields gradually turn golden when sun appears from above. Together with the villages scattered around in the cloud and mist, this will be a beautiful experience. Afterwards, we will join the Ethnic Market & Bazaar where locals trade daily supplies, get a closer look at the Hani people’s lifestyles. After this tour we drive back to our hotel to take a well deserved rest around lunchtime. In the afternoon we head to Azheke, where we can see the primitive Hani minority village with mushroom-like houses. We’ll continue our hiking in the rice paddies, seeing locals working in the fields, and finally enjoy the sunset together!

6 Days Kunming, Jianshui, Yuanyang Rice Terraces

Day 5: Yuanyang-Kunming 344km/5hrs

On day 5, we will start our journey back to Kunming. On the way, we are going to pay a visit to the Xingmeng Mongolian Village. This is special village because of the language that they speak here. It’s a language composed of ancient Mongolian, Yi, Hani, and is only handed down orally without writing records.

Day 6: Kunming Departure

This is the last day of the trip. You will wake up in Kunming and have a nice breakfast. Afterwards we will transfer you again to the airport or train station to go to your next destination, or back home.
